How do I install your files?

To install our stuff you first have to extract it with WinRar or a similar program. Right click on the download file and extract.

How to install our objects?

Put the extracted .package file into your downloads folder: My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads

How to install our houses?

Doubleclick on the extracted sims2pack file to install the lot with the Bodyshop Package Installer.

Help, your house does not appear in my game!

Try installing the lot with the sims2pack clean installer (S2PCI):

 * Open the sims2pack-file with the clean installer.
 * Then, clear the LotSegmentForUpload checkbox (it is the first one).
 * Now, install the files by clicking 'install' and 'ok'.
 * Open the teleport folder (in My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2) and delete the one file that was caused by the installation step1
 * Open the sims2pack-file with the clean installer again.
 * Now, choose 'select lot file only' by clicking the lot icon at the right side on the top.
 * Install the lot by clicking 'install' and 'ok'. The house should now be found in the house catalogue.

Why do the recolors not work ingame?

Recolors need the CEP for working. Get it here and install.

How do I install Sims 3 Lots?

- You will need Winrar or another program to extract the files.  Please see post above to obtain a copy of Winrar!
- Right Click on the file and extract it to a location of your choice.   I usually put it on the Desktop...easy to find!  Cheesy

- Once you have extracted the file, Double Click on the Sims 3 Custom Content file.

- The Sims 3 Launcher will open and install the file.

- When it completes, click the "OK" button and the install window will close.

Uhmmm, where's the Lot once I open the game?  scratch

- Ater clicking the "Play" button and entering your Town, click the "Options Menu" button and go to "Edit Town"

- 3 Options will appear...pick the 2nd Option "Show Empty Houses"

- All DL Lots will show. Click on the Lot and then place it

- Place the lot on an empty Lot of Equal or Greater size

- Click "Accept"

Voila! All done!     Enjoy!  Smiley

How do I install Sims 3 package files?

Files such as game mods, patterns etc need to be placed in the root directory of your game, located here:

- XP Users = C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\

- Vista Users = C:\Program Files(x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\

NOTE:  Some of you may have Programs instead of Program Files.

Do Not place files in My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads...they won't work!

Before the files can be viewed in game you need to do the following:

- Download the Resource.cfg file found here.

- Extract the Resource.cfg  file and place it directly into The Sims 3 folder.

DO NOT put the Resource.cfg file in a folder inside The Sims 3 folder....it won't work!

- In the same location, create a new folder and name it "Mods"...without the quotes.

- Open the Mods folder you just created and create a new folder and name it "Packages" ... without the quotes.

The "Packages" folder is where you will place your downloaded package files.

And that's it...you're ready to place Sims 3 package files!   Cool

As always, when downloading custom content, be sure to read the Creator's post and any special instructions for use or placement.

Some content does not belong in the Packages folder and will not work in game if placed there.   :bigboss:

How do I install Sims 3 Custom Content files included in your Lots?

Before you can install these files, you need to run them thru the compressorizer. Follow the below instructions.

Grab the compressorizer by Pescado here.

> Dounload the file s3rc-win.zip from the first post by Pescado
> Extract the folder to your Desktop
> Open the folder and you will see the application

Once you have that...

> Grab the Sims 3 Custom Content file and drag it over the application and release the mouse button. (drag and drop method)

> Drag the files from the folder...NOT THE ENTIRE FOLDER.  If you do that, it won't work!

> You should see a window flash open and close fast as lightning.

> Double Click the Sims 3 Custom Content file, the Launcher will open and install the files.

*** Installing Package Files as of "Ambitions" / Corresponding Patches ***

This update is only if you have installed Ambitions (EP02) and/or the corresponding patches!

- Navigate to: My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3
- Create a new folder, name it Mods
- Open the Mods folder and create another folder called Packages
- Create another folder in Mods called DCCache (to be used only for content in the .dbc format, which is very rare, but it doesn't hurt to put the folder there.)
- Download the NEW Resource.cfg file here
- Extract the cfg from the rar and place it in the Mods folder

Package files should now be placed in this Packages folder as opposed to the other. It is not recommended you use the previous Mods/Packages folders or Resource.cfg file since the game framework is differnt starting with Ambitions and patches associated with it.

Sims 3 Pack files are still installed via the Launcher!
